Outra crítica politicamente incorreta

A semana tinha começado com um (bom) show de outra “banda do passado” – o Duran Duran – que, apesar dos esforços do último disco, com participações de queridinhos da indústria musical dos tempos de hoje, não conseguiu fazer decolar o CD. O que funcionou mesmo foram os antigos sucessos.

Ficava a dúvida: Se o Duran Duran não conseguiu lotar o Vivo Rio, será que o Queen (sem Freddie Mercury, óbvio) conseguiria lotar a Arena Multiuso (ou HSBC, como queiram), um local muito maior? Será que conseguiriam se livrar de apenas serem um ato nostálgico?

A resposta começou a ficar clara ao chegar nas proximidades do autódromo e deparar com um imenso engarrafamento. Não lotou, mas tinha pelo menos uma 4x mais gente que no show dos Durans, isso com o preço do ingresso chegando até R$ 400!

Sei que é injusto comparar o peso e a história do Queen com os Durans, mas temos que ter algum parâmetro. Os súditos da “Rainha” trouxeram um show de rock como se espera um. Bom som (que podia estar um pouco mais alto), luzes, telão, ótimos músicos de apoio e músicas para todos os gostos.

A seqüência inicial (cheia de sucessos), foi o que era preciso para se ter a certeza de que ninguém ousaria reclamar de Paul Rodgers, cantor competentíssimo (que faz o vocal da minha versão preferida de These Arms of Mine, de Ottis Reading) e que está na estrada há mais tempo que o próprio Queen. Rodgers é mais roqueiro, tem boa presença de palco e conseguiu demarcar seu lugar na banda, no show e no coração do público.

A emoção e alegria eram visíveis nos rostos de Rodgers (que sorria, agradecia e mandava beijos e acenos o tempo todo), de Roger Taylor (que chegou a ficar surpreso quando o público cantou 39 quase na sua totalidade) e Bran May (que chorou após Love of My Life e no fim do show, quando não conseguia segurar nenhuma lágrima).

“Ainda lembro de vocês cantando esta canção nos anos 80…Vamos cantar pelos amigos que estão ausentes. Vamos cantar por Freddie Mercury”, disse antes de Love of My Life.

O que poderia ficar piegas (a própria Love of My Life) acabou sendo uma homenagem justa e na medida certa. As aparições de Mercury em Bijou e Bohemian Rhapsody em nada soaram oportunistas. As músicas do Queen são patrimônios e a banda (mesmo sem John Deacon) cuida delas com carinho e respeito, e ainda mostram que há como viver convivendo com elementos do passado.

Mostraram que o show e a vida podem continuar, sem ter que esquecer ou deixar de lado momentos, coisas ou pessoas do passado . Mostraram que é possível construir um futuro diferente e feliz apenas mudando aquilo que é preciso mudar.

Provavelmente o melhor show internacional de 2008.

Pontos altos:
O set de Brian May e Roger Taylor na rampa que cortava a platéia;
A montagem do kit de bateria de Roger durante o seu solo (a bateria foi montada enquanto ele tocava);
A inclusão de músicas do A Night At the Opera (como 39 e I’m in Love With My Car);
A Arena (ótima acústica e ótimas dependências):
A boa forma da guitarra de May,
A presença de palco de Paul Rodgers.

Pontos fracos:
O preço (abusivo para o Brasil);
O volume do som (poderia ter alguns decibéis a mais),
A Arena (looonnggeee demais e tudo e com um estacionamento difícil de chegar).

The week had started with a (good) to show other “band of the past” – the Duran Duran – which, despite the efforts of the last album, with shares of baby time of the music industry today, unable to take off the CD. What worked were the same old hits.

Was the question: If the Duran Duran failed to bumper the Vivo Rio, is the Queen (without Freddie Mercury, obviously) to achieve bumper Arena Organizers (HSBC or, if you like), a much larger place? Will could get rid of just being a nostalgic act?

The answer began to become clear to get near the autodrome and face a huge traffic jam. Didn’t bumper, but had at least a 4x more people in the show of Durans, that with the price of admission reaching U.S $ 400!

I know it is unfair to compare the weight and history of the Queen with the Durans, but we must have some parameter. The subjects of “Queen” brought a rock concert as is expected. Good sound (which could be a little higher), lights, big screen, Great support musicians and music for all tastes.

The begining sequence (full of success), was (the reason) that we needed to make sure that nobody would dare to complain of Paul Rodgers, the most competent singer (which is the voice of my favorite version of These Arms of Mine, from Ottis Reading) and which is on the road longer than the Queen. Rodgers is more rock, has good stage presence and was able to demarcate their place in the band in concert and in the heart of the public.

The excitement and joy were visible in the faces of Rodgers (that smile, please and sent kisses and wave all the time), by Roger Taylor (who came to be surprised when the audience sang almost in its entirety 39) and Brian May (who cried after Love of My Life and the end of the show, when I could not hold any tears).

“Also remember you singing this song in the 80 … Come on by friends who are absent. Come on by Freddie Mercury, “he said before the Love of My Life.

What could be slushy (the very Love of My Life) It was a tribute and just the right measure. The apparitions of Mercury in Bijou and Bohemian Rhapsody in sounded nothing opportunistic. The songs are Queen of the assets and the band (without John Deacon) handles them with care and respect, and show that there are still living like living with elements of the past

Showed that the show and life can continue without having to forget or leave out moments, people or things of the past. Showed that it is possible to build a different future and happy just changing what is necessary to change.

Probably the best international show of 2008.

Highlights:
The set of Brian May and Roger Taylor on the ramp that cut the audience;
The assembly of the kit, battery of Roger during his solo (the battery was mounted while he played);
The inclusion of songs from A Night At the Opera (like 39 and I’m in Love With My Car);
A Arena (great acoustics and great dependencies):
The shape of the guitar of May,
The presence of the scene of Paul Rodgers.

Weaknesses:
The price (abusive to Brazil);
The volume of sound (some might have the most decibels)
The Arena (and all too far and with a parking difficult to reach).
